พุทธศาสนาเป็นศาสนาที่เป็นเหตุเป็นผล เป็นวิทยาศาสตร์ และเปิดกว้างทางแนวคิดมากที่สุดศาสนาหนึ่ง ด้วยเหตุนี้จึงมีคนหลากหลายเข้ามาสู่ใต้ร่มกาสาวพัสตร์ และก็มีบางคนบางกลุ่มแอบใช้ผ้าเหลืองในการหาผลประโยชน์ เช่น เงินทอง อำนาจ และทำเรื่องที่ไม่เหมาะสมเช่นคนสามัญอย่างหน้าไม่อาย "ผี" จึงเป็นชุดภาพถ่ายที่สะท้อนสถานการณ์ที่กำลังเกิดขึ้นในแวดวงสงฆ์ของไทยในเวลานี้
Buddhism is the most reasonable religion, scientific, and wide-open. So various people can easily become monks in Buddhism. Some people use yellow robes to find benefits such as money, honor, or doing something improper like common people unashamedly. “Ghosts” is a photo series to reflect these happenings in this time.
In 2018, many well known Thai abbots and their assistants were arrested because they corrupted the government funds of supporting faraway temples. Some abbots escaped to other country but most of them were expelled from being monk and sued there was one monk committed suicide. Another big news of a famous abbot who has been teaching wrong doctrines and used marketing campaigns about “Ascension by donation” for a long time to bring much donated money to his temple and recently he was accused of cheating much money from a cooperative. Eventually he disappeared from Thailand and possibly escaped to another country.
Luang Pu Nenkham a famous monk who had many disciples in Thailand. He had boasted that he could walk on the water or in the air and also discussed it with an angel several times. From his narratives, many people believed in him and donated much money for creating temples and Buddha sculptures by his suggestion. But these things had never been created. Instead he spent money from donations for his luxury stuff such as super cars, brand name bags, or a private jet. Moreover he was accused about having sex with a 14 years old girl and had a child together. After that many issues he did while being a monk were revealed. Luang Pu Nenkham was eventually sentenced to 114 years in jail. Besides the mentioned monks, there are many issues such as sexuality, drugs, crime, black magic, etc which can be seen in the news as usual.
Thai people believe that “Ghost” stands opposite “Monk” like ‘Dark’ and ‘Light’. Unfortunately these Ghosts wouldn’t run away from the Light anymore, instead parasitize under the respectable yellow robes for consuming and exploiting good monks in the holy area called Buddhism.
